Let me start off by saying (perhaps to the disappointment of some of you) that I don’t actually practice magick and actually I never have. It’s not that I have a problem with people who do, I know lots of nice people who do and I understand that their motivation for doing so often stems from an interest in the supernatural, an interest I share and a subject very near and dear to my own heart.

Since the release of my new site with its “magick” theme, I have been wanting to write a blog post about the supernatural, magick, and what it means to me.

I think when I speak about magic and refer to it on my blog in reference to my work, I’m not talking about incantations, spells, and the like.

I’m talking about
“Do you BELIEVE in magic?”

I’ve been thinking about this question alot lately, because I think it’s a question that alot of people would give an emphatic “yes” to, however, I think alot of those people are at the same time not at all interested in incantations, spells, and sorcery. Why is that? If you want my opinion (and unfortunately you’re in my “realm” right now so you’re going to get it :D ), it’s because people are looking for something more. I think such a classic and timeless theme that runs through human history. Recently, we’ve seen J.R.R Tolkien write his epic saga “Lord of the Rings” and magic was a major part of the wonder and mystery of the world and story that he told. The same is true of C.S. Lewis and his works. I know that both authors did not actually practice witchcraft, sorcery, or tarot readings, yet magic was a central theme to the stories they told.

The funny thing is that I do believe in witchcraft, sorcery, tarot reading etc. and their ability to affect the world, but I’m not really convinced that the effect is positive. Obviously there’s plenty of controversy surrounding that issue and I’m not interested in adding to it, however, I will say this:

The fundamental problem of witchcraft, sorcery, and the like is not the tapping into the supernatural, it’s the motivation behind it.

The mystical realms are a place where, in my opinion, all of us are born to live and breathe and thrive. However, I don’t think anyone wants to take a journey into that realm (as my friend did once) and end up trying to jump out of a car going 65mph because they’re tripping face on acid and perceive demons in the car trying to kill him. I’m just sayin’, the spirit realm is the place to be, but you have to enter through the proper door to get the GOOD stuff.

At the end of the day it’s the motivations: it’s control, manipulation, self-promotion, and self-righteousness that are really holding us back as a worldwide community… Not so much the mystical or the magical or the supernatural. What we REALLY need to do is awaken people to the reality of the presence of the SHING DING of HEAVEN! More on this later…
